For most young girls their fascination with hairstyling starts with their dolls. That too was the case for Cassandra. She was recruited at the age of 14 to work at a hair salon as hair stylist assistant. She developed her skills while attending Hair Design Institute where she obtained her cosmetology license.

Cassandra attended Howard University and majored in chemistry and minored in fine arts, combining the two things she loved the most. She knew as a chemist she would be able to formulate hair and skincare products and as an artist her innate talent would be displayed naturally through hairstyling and make-up artistry.

After graduating with a B.S. in chemistry, Cassandra attended an advance cosmetology school in South Florida. There, Cassandra focused on hair color and cutting techniques as well as esthetics and make-up artistry.

Cassandra earned a master degree in Cosmetic Chemistry from Farleigh Dickerson University. She excelled in hair color formulating, a specialized skill in the cosmetic chemistry industry. She worked for J.H.L formulating hair care and hair color products for Clairol, Carson Dark and Lovely, L’Oreal, Vidal Sassoon, and Unilever to name a few. 		She then worked at Shiseido, Zotos International formulating for lines such as Iso Hair Color and Joico Hair and Hair Color. She has also formulated products for Regis, TIGI, Bed Head, True Cosmetics, Sexy Hair and Serai Belle Inc. in the areas of hair, skincare and cosmetics.

She has also written for various magazines such as Celebrity Styles 101, Hair and Braids, and Black Elegance and BE the Next Level Magazine.

Her passion and drive comes from her desire to make people happy with what they see when looking into the mirror. This is why Cassandra has founded a non-profit organization called “Her Name is Beauty” (hernameisbeauty.org), which recruits make-up artist and hairstylists such as herself to give back to communities that are deprived from the beauty of hair and skincare due to financial or medical constraints. Cassandra asserts, “No matter what the cost, I want to see every women and girl feel good about their hair, appearance, and life. And beauty is where it starts!”
